Chiapas Amber Bee DD3779
Approx. Weight: 2.38 grams
Approx. Dimensions: 1" X 0.6"
This highly detailed bee carving is hand carved in amber from Chiapas, Mexico. Each bee has a hole drilled through it so it may be used as a bead or pendant by adding a small chain or cord. Acrylic stand and putty not included.

Amber is tree resin which has fossilized, sometimes including plant material or insects. To be considered "amber" the tree resin cannot simply harden, but must have its molecules polymerize. This can take from 100,000 to millions of years to occur. A recovered specimen of amber dating back to the Upper Carboniferous period is the oldest on record at approximately 320 million years old!
