This is a beautiful little specimen of quartz with clinochlore that has eaten away at the surface of the quartz crystals. The combination of the two minerals creates an incredible play of light as light is reflected off of the myriad of pits and pock marks left by the clinochlore's interference with the quartz surface growth.
Clinochlore is a green-colored mineral belonging to the chlorite group, a subset of phyllosilicates. It forms in metamorphic environments, particularly in regions with low-grade metamorphism, such as shale and slate deposits. Historically, clinochlore has been recognized and used in various applications, including as a decorative stone and for its perceived healing properties. Chemically, clinochlore is a hydrated magnesium iron aluminum silicate, with a complex composition that may include other elements such as chromium and manganese. It exhibits a foliated or scaly texture and a hardness ranging from 2 to 2.5 on the Mohs scale. Clinochlore's green coloration is attributed to its iron content, and it often occurs as aggregates or masses rather than individual crystals. The mineral's association with serpentine and talc makes it a valuable indicator of certain geological environments and processes.

Items returned to us damaged or not in original condition will receive a partial refund. Refunds will be issued to the original payment method on the order.
If a return is made for reasons other than an error on our part, a 20% restocking fee will apply and will be deducted from any refund due.
