Aventurine is a form of Quartz that exhibits plates and flakes of inclusions that give the mineral its sparkle. The sparkle is a phenomenon called "aventurescence", and is also a property of minerals such as Lepidolite and Indian Sunstone. Aventurine is most commonly found in green, but can appear in orange, brown, yellow, blue, and gray. The colors depend on the variety of mineral inclusions within the Quartz. Fuschite inclusions will give a green sheen, Muscovite and ilmenite produces blue or gray Aventurine, while Hematite or Goethite can give orange and brown Aventurine. Sometimes Sunstone, or Aventurine Feldspar, can be mistaken as orange or red Aventurine.
