Fossilized skull of Odontopteryx sp., an extinct seabird known for its distinctive tooth-like projections along the edges of its beak. Odontopteryx lived during the Eocene Epoch, roughly 56 to 34 million years ago, and its fossils are primarily known from marine sediments in Europe, including England and Belgium. Despite their appearance, the structures along the beak were not true teeth but specialized bony projections. This rare skull provides a look at an unusual group of early seabirds that lived along the ancient coastlines of the North Atlantic.
