Historically, amazonite was popular among ancient cultures for ornamental carvings and jewelry. Composed of potassium aluminum silicate, amazonite exhibits a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale. Its distinctive green color comes from the presence of lead or copper impurities.
