7.5" Mookaite Obelisk
Approx. Dimensions: 1.5x1.5x7.5 inches
Approx. Weight: 478 grams
Locality: Australia
This obelisk is close to the perfect trifecta of color for mookaite. It's hard to get the white, yellow, and maroon all together in one piece, and this obelisk is near perfect.
Mookaite is a sedimentary rock composed primarily of silica, formed through the deposition of microscopic organisms and minerals in ancient marine sediment layers. It derives its distinct coloring from a combination of iron oxide and other mineral impurities. Mookaite is primarily found in Western Australia, particularly in the Kennedy Ranges near Mooka Creek, from which it gets its name.
