Barite from the Lubin Mine in southwestern Poland, an active copper mine in the Lubin-Sieroszowice mining district. Barite (barium sulfate) forms when barium-rich fluids interact with sulfate-bearing solutions, producing crystals within the surrounding rock. The mine is part of the extensive Zechstein copper deposits formed during the Permian Period, approximately 260 million years ago. Barite specimens from this region are collected alongside a variety of minerals associated with the area's copper-bearing sedimentary deposits.
