The Jeffrey Mine is an open pit chrysotile asbestos mine which began operation in 1879. It has been inactive since the early 2000's. The town of Asbestos changed its name to Val-des-Sources in 2020.
This hessonite garnet cluster is from a unique locality in Quebec, Canada. It has a lovely light peach color with great sparkle, and is in excellent condition.
