This partially polished piece was cut from a barite specimen from the Lubin Mine in southwestern Poland. The mine is part of the Lubin–Sieroszowice copper district, known for producing barite associated with the copper-bearing ores. Cutting the specimen reveals the internal structure and layering of the barite, giving the piece a different look from the original uncut material. The exterior of the barite is coated in marcasite.
