This specimen of quartz with Hedenbergite inclusions was acquired from Ward's Natural Science in 1988. Prase quartz specimens from Serifos Island were collected mainly in the 1980's to 1990's.
Hedenbergite is a calcium iron silicate mineral belonging to the pyroxene group, with the chemical formula CaFeSi2O6. It typically forms in metamorphic and igneous rocks, particularly those that have undergone contact or regional metamorphism. Hedenbergite is characterized by its dark green to black color, and it often occurs in granular or massive forms, though well-formed crystals can also be found. This mineral is known for its prismatic crystal habit and two distinct cleavage directions, which are typical features of pyroxenes. Hedenbergite plays a role in geology as an indicator of the conditions under which the host rocks formed and can be associated with other minerals such as garnet, quartz, and magnetite. Its name honors the Swedish chemist M.A. Hedenberg, who contributed to its discovery and study.

Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery according to the tracking information on the order. Items must be returned in new/unused/undamaged condition to receive a full refund. Items returned to us damaged or not in original condition will receive a partial refund. Refunds will be issued to the original payment method on the order.
If a return is made for reasons other than an error on our part, a 20% restocking fee will apply and will be deducted from any refund due.
We will not accept returns for any items outside of the 14 day return window.
