Known for its yellow fluorite specimens, the Moscona Mine in northern Spain was registered in 1968. It has produced millions of specimens of barite, fluorite, dolomite, and calcite. These yellow fluorite specimens are known for their beautiful zoning that is visible under UV light. The last photo shows the specimen under a long-wave UV flashlight.
Fluorite occurs in a variety of colors, or can be colorless. Among the mineral kingdom it exhibits one of the widest varities of colors. Impurities in the Fluorite cause its colorations. It is a very common mineral that occurs throughout the world and is the only mineral that large quantities of elemental fluorine can be extracted from. England has produced some of the best specimens of Fluorite, most notably from the Rogerly Mine.
